So much to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. The last year has certainly changed my outlook on many things and although I was thankful for many things a year ago, I am thankful for things I simply took for granted or overlooked a year ago. Things such as health, time at home, supportive family and friends, unconditional love, and God's grace and His many gifts.
Monday Jordon's A.N.C. was 700 (500 puts him at severe risk of infection). We began the nightly Neupogen shots to stimulate his immune system (this is began 24 hours after chemo which ended Saturday). We weren't sure what limits he would have this Thanksgiving season, but we were hopeful that when the nurse came back on Wednesday his numbers would be sufficient to enjoy family for the holiday. Tuesday Lauren Belle began to run a fever of 102. This concerned us because Jordon's immune system was compromised as well as her being in such close proximity of him. We certainly did not want to spend Thanksgiving in the hospital. So, as difficult as it was to send our daughter away while she was sick, we could not risk Jordon getting sick with the inability to fight an infection. However, once Jordon was comfortably tucked in bed, I went and stayed at my grandmothers with Lauren Belle who ran a fever most of the night. Jordon's nurse came Wednesday morning and Lauren Belle headed to the doctor. The doctors weren't positive of the cause but sent some cultures off and prescribed her an antibiotic. In the meantime, the nurse called with Jordon's results. AMAZING! His A.N.C. was 8000! The nurse thinks Jordon will still plummet from the last chemo because he usually plummets 10 days after (we are on day 9 today) but she said to enjoy Thanksgiving. Additionally, whatever Lauren Belle is fighting, Jordon will not be at extreme risk of getting.
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! We are thankful for so many things and also know that everything we are thankful for is a gift from God.
