MERRY CHRISTMAS

So the busyness of the holidays were certainly apparent in my lack of posting.

Jordon did not return to Children's and his chemo has been postponed yet another week.  Last Thursday his A.N.C. (immune system) was over 2000 (which is a safe number).  But when Monday rolled around he had plummeted once again to under 500.  So Tuesday's chemo was postponed to next Tuesday.  This Thursday the nurse came once again and his numbers were slightly better at 700 but this is still under the necessary goal of 1000.  So Jordon's doctor has placed him back on the Neupogen shots for a couple of days in hopes that his numbers will be above 1000 by Tuesday (the 27th).  This is good for a couple of reasons.  It is possible that Jordon's body is fighting a small cold or something and that is why he is unable to produce an immune system.  Neupogen is also good because we can participate in the holidays to the extent of what Jordon feels like doing.  Jordon has now been without chemo for nearly 7 weeks and his hair is growing back!  But we are unsure whether or not it will stay.

We have really enjoyed this Christmas and celebrating the birth of Christ. We are all tired, my car is a mess, and our house an unrecognizable disaster, but none of that matters because kids grow up and Christmas only happens once a year.  So this year we don't seem to mind that our kids have had candy for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or that my dishes are piled to the ceiling.

Every Christmas I find myself anxious for the hustle and bustle to all be over.  This year I found myself not wanting it to end.  This Christmas we thought all about celebrating with family and enjoying our time away from chemo, not worrying about counts.  We found ourselves celebrating Christ's birth and appreciating the true meaning of Christmas.  We found ourselves spending time as a family, away from wordly worries and things and found ourselves enjoying each other (or as much as siblings can enjoy each other on Christmas break).  We are grateful that we were all able to be home to celebrate as we know some of Jordon's new friends will be spending Christmas in the hospital.

We are blessed with so many things but the reason of Christmas is the best blessing of all.

Praises for Christmas and our Savior, family, children, beautiful weather, home, and love.

“Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
