Football and Bears-Oh my!

Although football would not have been the sport I chose for Jordon to begin playing a week after his port was removed, it is awesome seeing him out there playing a sport he did not get to participate in a short year ago.  To Jordon it is invigorating.   I think it is a way for Jordon to relieve stress and get his mind off of anything that may worry him.  Sometimes Jordon gets worked up about any medical abnormality he may be having or discussion of going to the doctor.  The hospitals and doctors were a huge part of his life for 8 months and he sometimes expresses concern about reliving it.  Besides medication making him weepy a couple of times during those 8 months, Jordon never cried or got upset.  But now I can see how affected he was by it.  He never once complained about getting his blood drawn twice a week.  The other day Jordon had some enlarged lymph nodes in his neck, so as a precaution I suggested that we head to the doctor and get some blood work.  He was opposed to having his blood drawn.  I cannot tell if his concern is that they may find something or if he is just so sick of doctors and hospitals he does not want to go.  Praise the Lord when he saw the doctor his lymph nodes had returned to normal size.

To keep Jordon from concern we try and keep him busy and his mind off of the next scan/doctor visit.  Besides keeping busy with football he is back to hanging out with friends, fighting with his sisters, traveling a bit, getting away for mini family vacations, and has not missed any school due to illness.  He did take off of school to bag a bear!  That weekend I am certain he had nothing else on his mind but the crisp air of Wisconsin and treeing a bear.  We have yet to eat the meat and are anxiously waiting for the mount to come back.  I think Jordon said the bear was about 175-200 pounds!  The girls and I stayed home and it was a nice short vacation for Jordon and good father/son bonding.

In short, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE pray for children that are suffering.  Seeing Jordon enjoying things he had to put off last year really makes someone appreciate life through a child's eyes, but also makes me sad for children that struggle and suffer.  I feel blessed and fortunate that Jordon is in remission and got to ring the bell-something several of his floor mates haven't been able to do.  Please pray that those parents find comfort during this time and that they fully rely on God (F.R.O.G.) to get them through this.  Please continue to pray for Jordon's continued good health.  Each day of remission is a day closer to being cured!  Each day of remission is also a day we get to enjoy as a family and enjoy our many blessings!  We continue to thank God everyday for choosing us to be Jordon's parents and for healing him!  We thank God everyday that he is able to enjoy the simple things in life and that He has opened our eyes to the important things.

I have a couple of pictures that I was able to pull off of Facebook.  My computer has locked down all of my pictures.  I was attempting to back up my pictures and I had too many and it locked them down :).  So I will try and share more pictures later.  I can't remember the last time I posted but I am sure there have been lots of pictures taken since then :).  Thank you for keeping up with us and continuing to pray with us!
