After much anticipation we received yet another call from the doctor today. The CT scan went well yesterday and it has shown no change in the tumor since the PET scan (1 week ago).
So I will just jump to the incredible news and an answer to prayers. Jordon is in remission! Allow me to explain.
After the surgeons reviewed the CT scan, they are confident that the first biopsy provided the results that they needed (I suppose this is why the CT scan is imperative). Jordon's team of doctors (the radiologist, surgeons, and oncologist) thought that another biopsy would put Jordon at undo risk and with the three pieces of tumor they were able to get with the first biopsy, they are able to proceed with "maintenance" since it appears the residual tumor is necrotic tissue. Jordon is now considered in remission and on task for maintenance and right where he should be. WHAT AN AMAZING ANSWER TO PRAYERS. I am still stunned! At this time there are no plans to do a bone marrow transplant. They are going to monitor Jordon with follow up scans throughout maintenance to make sure he stays in remission and that the residual tumor does not grow.
Jordon's prayer warriors are in full force and that is obvious! I am not even sure what to say except that things like this can only happen through faith and belief in Him. Even though it is sometimes hard to celebrate cancer-today we CELEBRATE!
Jordon is thrilled-he cannot wait to tell his teachers and friends!
Praises that Jordon is in remission! Praises that Jordon has so many prayer warriors. Praises that Jordon will be able to get his picture taken for the yearbook this year! Praises that the doctors are working hard to do what is best for Jordon's health. Prayers for continued remission and prayers that the Lord provide the doctors the knowledge to cure Jordon. Prayers that the future hospital stays go well for Jordon and prayers against short and long term side effects.
Again, we cannot thank you enough for your prayers, love, and encouragement. I could not wait to share. And even though there are ups and downs, we know that we will always have an answer to prayer because we are never alone! We should never worry, because although we love Jordon as much as any parent can love a child, the Lord loves him more. I think this is when the whole family can see one set of footprints in the sand.
