I didn't hear from the doctors on Friday like I was expecting so I decided to give them a call today. When I called, I explained to them that I had not heard from the surgery department in regards to his scheduled biopsy and I wanted to know how I should schedule our week or even day. They told me that they were waiting on surgery to schedule him and I should be getting a call from them. So I thought I would call surgery to speed things along and make sure they got the message. When I spoke with them they told me that nothing had been scheduled because they needed a CT scan to determine the density of the mass and of course the size exactly, since a PET scan only indicates the level of cancerous activity in the body. I can appreciate what information these scans provide but I don't necessarily like the amount of radiation that Jordon is exposed to (a CT scan can equal approximately 450 x-rays). So in addition to the PET scan he had last week, they used a CT scanner to determine where to place the needle for the biopsy last Thursday and he will have another CT scan done tomorrow. That seems like a lot of radiation. But that is where prayer and trust comes in. Prayer that the radiation will not do any damage and that the benefit far outweigh the risk, and trust in Jordon's doctors.
So that is where we are. Jordon will have a CT scan tomorrow and we will await results. I am assuming that they will send him home after the scan, then schedule the next biopsy upon those results. We are still prayerful that all the tumor is non-cancerous.
We also pray against short and long term effects from chemo, scans, and the surgery or biopsy. We pray that Jordon will do well with the biopsy and we pray for the doctors to have the wisdom and knowledge to cure Jordon. We also pray that when we are faced with a decision, that it will be the one that will be following the Lord's will. Thank you for the support, love, encouragement, and prayers that you have given to us.
