Fulfilled Weekend

On Friday night, our family watched Soul Surfer for the first time.  Without giving to much away, for those that have not seen it, watching the movie was inspiring, to say the least.  It reminded me that out of the toughest situations, people that lean on the Lord the most see the goodness of Him.  Then again, the Lord spoke to me at church yesterday.  The sermon was about turning to the Lord in times of trouble and how the Lord cares for those who trust in Him.  Since our church attendance has been sporadic in the last couple of months, it is interesting to be in attendance on days in which I feel the Lord is speaking directly to me. Again, this weekend was a weekend in which I felt abundantly fed.

Last night Jordon set his alarm for 6:45 am in anticipation of getting ready for his first day of school.  He has had an alarm clock for a couple of years now.  He has always been the child that gets up on his own, gets himself ready, and sometimes wakes others.  In fact, he usually has his shoes on before the girls are even up.  The nurse came around 8 to draw his blood, and again we waited.  And waited.  A rapid CBC takes around 15 minutes.  And although we had those "preliminary" results back quickly, since his numbers are usually abnormal (abnormal for a healthy person, his oncologist does not worry till they are abnormal for chemo patients) they must do a manual dip (?).  So we waited to hear back from the doctor to tell Jordon whether or not he could attend school.  Well, his numbers were GREAT...  except for his platelets.  Normal range is 150-400.  Jordon's was 35 :(.  He asked me all day when he was going to get to go to school.  Imagine the disappointment.  But he bounced back quickly, we went to pick the girls up after school and he is excited to maybe get to go Wednesday.  Please pray pray pray for Wednesday attendance.  Tomorrow we will be heading back up to Children's to have a PET scan and possibly receive platelets.  Please also pray that the PET scan shows AMAZING & MIRACULOUS results!  This is the scan in which he will receive radioactive sugar that attaches to the cancer cells in the body to show exactly where cancer cells are.  This should also give us an idea on how much the tumor has shrunk since the last PET scan.

Prayers for tonight.  Please pray that the Lord will guide our family through this time.  The girls are showing a bit of distress over the situation.  Please pray that our family finds the perfect balance for Jordon and the girls.  Please also pray against short and long term negative side effects when Jordon receives platelets and from the scans and test.
