Going good

Since being home from the last hospital visit we have decided to keep Jordon home from school so that it is less likely that he will be sick and have his numbers drop prior to this next chemo treatment.  We are prayerful that this will be his last chemo treatment so we want to do as much as possible to ensure that this one is not postponed.  We are fortunate to be in such a wonderful school district and that someone we know is a former teacher and that she has been able to come over and work with Jordon a couple of hours a day.  She has been a blessing, thank you Debbie!  And a thank you to our school district for being so accommodating.

Jordon appears to be feeling better since most of the medication he was on has exited his body.  He continues to have stomach aches and headaches but none that cause a lot of pain.  His ankle pain has also returned, but this is not a new symptom, just one we haven't seen in a while.  It is most likely from the chemotherapy drug Vincristine, as it appears about 2 weeks after that treatment.

For the most part we have relaxed and spent time at home.  Last night we were able to attend this amazing basketball event brought together by a friend, in memory of her husband who battled hodgkin's lymphoma.  Those who have battled cancer or lost a loved one to cancer were honored at this event.  It was a wonderful event that raised awareness and the proceeds will be used for scholarships.  What a great time we had surrounded by a community that we love.

So early Tuesday we will be preparing to head back up to Children's for what we hope will be Jordon's cure.  This chemotherapy is the last on his protocol.  As I mentioned before, when kids finish their treatment, they ring the bell.  This is monumental for the kids.  Jordon is anxious to do this and instead of the 26th will do it around 5:45 on the evening of the 25th.  He would love for his friends and family to be there if possible.  We are excited and again prayerful that Jordon is cured.  He will have a scan on the 31st, and although the tumor was present in the last x-ray, we know the Lord can do anything.  And we are faithful in knowing that His will is perfect.

Notice Jordon's hair.  I grew quite a bit since the last chemo was postponed a couple of weeks and not as powerful as the other chemo regimens.  He has enjoyed it for a bit, but we are seeing it fall out again.  No worries from Jordon, he knows it will grow back permanently soon :).

Now listen, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money.” Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.” James 4:13-15
