Home before we knew it

Sunday the doctors came down and indicated to us that they were going to get us up to the 9th floor.  The 9th floor is the oncology floor and the floor that Jordon has always been on, with the exception of the 7th floor (PICU) prior to diagnosis.  This stay Jordon was on the 8th floor because of the possibility that he was "infectious".  He didn't know the nurses, we didn't know where anything on the floor was, they weren't "oncology" nurses, and the floor is very noisy with crying babies, and lots of beeps.  Plus since Jordon was neutropenic, I was concerned with him being on the same floor with other "infectious" children.  But I do have to agree that I would not want a sick child on the 9th floor with Jordon, so I completely understand the fact that the goal is to keep the 9th floor "clean".  Other kids on the 8th floor had things like whooping cough, c-diff, diphtheria, and influenza.  And while these children are all confined to their room (each room is private), the nurses aren't confined to one patient.  But I do have to say they take great precaution-gloves, gowns, and masks.

Well, while the nurses and doctors were busy at getting Jordon a room on the 9th floor, Jordon was busy making counts.  When he woke up on Monday his ANC was above 500.  And since his cultures did not grow anything, they chalked it up to a respiratory infection and sent us on our way.

Jordon left the hospital with a cough and congestion still, but again they think he is recovering from a cold.

One of my other concerns is that Jordon has had a bit of left side/stomach pain.  One night in the hospital he was nearly doubled over, but the pain was alleviated with pain medication.  The antibiotics Jordon was on in the hospital was quite powerful and neupogen to stimulate his immune system and bone marrow has cause pain to Jordon before.  So the doctors want us to monitor him closely to see if the symptoms subside and to contact them with any increase or change in pain.  Of course I want to know what is going on inside his body, but without a high powered radiation scan we wouldn't know.  And if he were to have a scan for nothing that would be a risk as well.  So I am praying for patience and comfort.  I have full faith in the Lord and am prayerful that He is guiding the doctors and giving them the knowledge to know what is best for Jordon.  The doctors are aware of my concerns and I know that if they were concerned we would know it.

So hopefully we are home until the 24th, when the next chemo will take place.

A nice visit from our wonderful friends (even if his hat says KU :) )

Thank you for all of your prayers.  It is difficult not to worry and want to control situations sometimes, but amazingly we have several moments of peace and when we turn our worries over to God He manages our situations for us.  There is not one thing on this earth that we need to worry about, and not one prayer that will not be answered by the Lord.  What a relief!
