Since Jordon tires out pretty quickly these days his activity is limited! Jordon has made a new friend named Robbie. Robbie is 8 years old and was diagnosed with leukemia at age 2. Last night Robbie sold snow cones and made $172. So today he threw the floor a pizza party! After the pizza party he invited Jordon back to his room to play some x-box. They then enjoyed the afternoon making art! In the mean time I learned the do's and don'ts of Jordon's nutrition. They talked about how it is important that he stay away from salt and any vitamin supplement (salt is okay in the hospital since they are flushing him out so much). We were also told that if Jordon goes to a restaurant it must say A+ on the door and he must absolutely stay away from soft serve ice cream. They explained that any food that he eats must be carefully prepared and thoroughly cooked (no more medium rare steaks) and left overs should be avoided. They discussed with us foods that can aid in nausea like ginger and mouth cleaning like lemonade.
So again Jordon has received two chemo treatments today. He is still handling them very well. He is such an incredibly strong child. I am so proud of him! At one time last week he got out of bed hunched over with back pain from the biopsies. I could tell he was in pain and when I asked him if he needed medication, he said, "mom they told me it would hurt and I just have to deal with it." He is the toughest kid I know! I went ahead and had them give him something because their goal here is to cure the cancer and make the children comfortable.
Please continue to pray that the tumor will respond to the chemo by shrinking quickly and that he will have minimal side effects. Pray that the friendships we are making will be positive ones that we can lean on for support and vice versa. Pray that Jordon's food will nourish his body and be beneficial in fighting the cancer and minimizing his side effects.
